Course Description
This course teaches students how to deal with architectural design problems by integrating spatial, programmatic and material strategies. It provides an opportunity for the student to synthesize the skills and ideas developed over the past two years of study and apply this knowledge towards the development of a design project. Students will go through a comprehensive design process that includes: a thorough analysis of site issues and architectural precedents, detailed design development of the project and the coordination and integration of structural, environmental and material systems in the design work. They will learn how to systematically proceed from one stage to another and how to link design stages together. The course emphasizes the systematic application of sustainability concepts represented by both environmental and cultural parameters into the final design project.
