Course Description
Students will learn how to approach and process the design of relatively complex architectural forms as well as take into account conceptual, theoretical, functional, symbolic, organizational, compositional, aesthetic and structural parameters of the architectural space. The main focus of this course is on the structural aspect. It will motivate students into exploring possible structural solutions for long span spaces. Students will apply the concept of sustainability, first by assessing capabilities and features of various structural systems and choosing an innovative and optimum system that best fits the architectural design solution and secondly, by considering local cultural and environmental parameters in the project design.
