Course Description
In this course housing design problems will be explored within the sociocultural and environmental context of Saudi Arabia. A vocabulary of housing design concerns is developed in order to help structure theoretical issues such as: privacy, proxemics, territoriality, perception and neighbourhoods. Sociocultural, economic, climatic factors and sustainability issues are examined in depth in order to develop an understanding of the urban and architectural implications of housing design.
