Course Description
The course provides the student with further in-depth knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for high quality nursing management for Medical-Surgical patients in specialized medical and surgical wards, as well as emergency room, operating room and recovery room, day surgery and hemodialysis unit. This is in addition to the different therapeutic modalities used for both medical and surgical patients. However, the student is expected to integrate knowledge derived from other courses taken previously or simultaneously.
The course also focuses on the application of nursing process and utilization of self-care concepts in providing comprehensive nursing management for medical and surgical patients with special consideration to the maintenance of patients’ safety throughout care and promotion of home and community-based care.
