Course Description
This course aims at introducing students to basic concepts of operating systems, how standard operating systems function and the main idea of undistributed operating systems in order to enable the students to analyze and explain algorithms used to manage main memory and discuss algorithms used in outputs, inputs and files. This course includes the main concept of operating systems (general view of operating systems and description of the process and observation), uni- processing scheduling, memory management in terms of (memory requirements, main memory division), virtual memory management in terms of (paging, segmentation, combined paging and segmentation), operating system software, input and output management in terms of (disk scheduling, organization of input & output function), file management in terms of (file organization and processing).
