Course Description
Ethical issues in scientific research , planning of surveys, questionnaire construction, methods of data collection, fieldwork procedures, sources of errors, basic ideas of sampling, sample size determination and cost , Inference and Error in Surveys , Research problem, goals , questions , and hypotheses for quantitative and qualitative studies , Sampling frames , Sampling Design and Sampling Error–types of Variables , data and measures , Computerized Data Descriptive a statistical inference of sample data and analysis of results, one and two analysis of variance , linear and multiple regression analysis – writing the report-Using statistical packages to solve the problems.
Course Objectives & Outcomes
The objectives of this course are :
- Gives an introduction to the design of sample surveys and estimation procedures.
- Emphasis on practical applications in survey sampling analysis and writing reports.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Outline the components of scholarly writing research
- Describe best methods used to design and implement all major survey operations
- Identify Ethical issues in scientific research
- Identify the basic mathematical components to analyses results of research.
- Interpret the research results and evaluate surveys.
- Plan a questionnaire that employs several types of survey questions.
- Explain the principle activities, skills and ethics associated with the research process.
- Relate the statistical conclusions with the theoretical concepts.
