Directorate of Academic Affairs and Training

 The Directorate of Academic Affairs and Training provides supporting services and programs that are vital for the development of skills and overall proficiency of employees in their respective units.  This department offers continuous medical education, post-graduate trainings, and life support programs which ensure vast learning opportunities that support the vision, mission and values of King Fahad Hospital of the University and the continued professional growth of its employees.  Furthermore, as a leading training institution, it caters to support the dynamic learning needs of the undergraduates of the University of Dammam and other affiliated universities, colleges or institutions in the kingdom.

Continuing Medical Education

The Continuing Medical Education Unit organizes seminars, conferences, meetings, courses, and scientific workshops in collaboration with various clinical departments, faculty, and scientific societies within King Fahad Hospital of the University (KFHU), University of Dammam, and other local and international institutions.

Life Support Training Center

 The Life Support Training Center is a unit which provides series of American Heart Association (AHA) accredited training courses and activities geared towards providing competencies in cardiopulmonary resuscitation,  life support and emergency preparedness.  These courses are the Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness (DMEP).

Higher Education Unit

Higher Education Unit facilitates communication with the statutory and regulatory bodies which are the Deanship of Higher Studies and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) for the graduate (residency) and postgraduate programs (fellowship) in the different clinical departments within KFHU.

Training and Staff Development

The Training and Staff Development unit conducts a comprehensive general hospital orientation, mandatory Lectures on Infection Control and Fire & Safety.  Furthermore, it supervises in-service trainings and activities conducted by the different clinical and non-clinical departments in the hospital. It also offers rigorous clinical experience to external trainees in the institution.

Health Education

Health Education Unit provides an inclusive patient education program for both inpatients and outpatients. It also provides outreach health education programs in collaboration with KFHU faculty, College of Nursing, and College of Applied Medical Sciences.  These outreach health education classes are conducted to schools, colleges, and other institutions as well as in the community.

Support Services Unit

The Support Services Unit is composed of the audiovisual services which is responsible for room scheduling of classrooms and auditoriums for post-graduates and undergraduates; translation services which provides Arabic and English translations for hospital cases and training communications; design and photography services which is responsible for designing and printing educational materials (e.g. booklets, print-outs) as well as recording and documenting all scientific CME activities conducted by KFHU; and a library which provides a learning environment for hospital faculty members, employees, and trainees with the most recent books, periodicals, database and online electronic databases intended for research and independent studies.

Evidence-Based Medicine Unit

The Evidence-Based Unit ensures integration of the clinical expertise of clinicians and the best evidence-based approaches in the treatment of their patients. Our unit provides Research Methodology Courses that are approved by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and Evidence-Based Medicine Courses that are approved by the National and Gulf Center for Evidence-Based Health Practice (NGCEBHP). The aim of Evidence-Based Medicine Unit is to enable health practitioners to improve their competencies in conducting research and utilizing research results to provide the best evidence-based patient care.
