Overview

  • Rhinology division is recognized as one of the leading centers in endoscopic sinus surgery. Rhinology center at KFHU is considered the first center in the eastern province that introduced endoscopic sinus surgery in 1998. Since then, we have steered our department into growth and expansion of training and experience in the management of sinus-related diseases including nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, skull base tumors and many other conditions.
  • Currently, rhinology center is specialized in various subdivisions, such as immunology and allergy clinic , advanced endoscopic skull base clinic joined with neurosurgery for skull base lesions, and facio-plasty clinic.
  • We routinely receive consultations and patient referrals from all parts of the eastern province and the whole regions.

Mission

Our mission is to provide our patients the best care available, for diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses.

Patient Care

  • The conditions we are devoted to manage in order to promote the health of our patients include chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis, chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyposis, allergic fungal sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, deviated nasal septum, hypertrophied inferior turbinates, CSF rhinorrhea, choanal atresia repair, sinuonasal tumor resection, dacrocystorhinostomy and optic nerve decompression. Recently, our endoscopic expertise has extensively developed for the management of skull base disease like pituitary adenoma, chordoma, craniopharyngioma and meningioma.
  • The Rhinology division also provides allergy and immunology testing, and it is in the process of establishing immunotherapy management for patients suffering from allergic rhinosinusitis not responding to medical treatment.
  • Our Clinics are equipped with state of the art diagnostic equipment to provide the best service that suits every patient’s unique needs.

Residents training

  • The rhinology division offers an exceptionally strong and unparalleled training experience for our residents. The greatest strength of our program is the outstanding and committed teaching staff, whom are full-time board certified faculty. All of whom place the excellence of the residency-training program as their highest priority.
  • Residents within the program rotate throughout rhinology divisions and participate in well-oriented high-rated cadaveric hands on workshops, which are held in our ESS lab.
  • It is expected that all residents participate in grand rounds, and weekly rhinology case conferences after the clinic and actively engaged in the program’s research mission

Accomplishments

  • Eleven rhinology Clinics are running each week.
  • More than 200 patients/week are examined in our clinics. Including patient referrals from ophthalmology and neurosurgery team.
  • There is an active cooperation with Saudi Otorhinolaryngology Society and Saudi Association of Neurosurgery (SANS).
  • Research and methodology workshops.
  • Basic Endoscopic sinus surgery hands-on workshops.
  • Advanced endoscopic sinus surgery hands-on workshops.
