This course focuses on the interaction of light with biological tissues and its applications in medical diagnostics and therapy. Students study the fundamentals of optical absorption, scattering, fluorescence, and laser–tissue interaction. Topics include optical coherence tomography, fluorescence imaging, photoacoustic imaging, and photodynamic therapy. The course combines theoretical modeling with practical demonstrations of biophotonic instrumentation and measurement techniques.
