Course Description
The course aims at introducing students to the essential knowledge concerned with different teaching theories as well as psychological and cognitive development stages during childhood.
The course concepts include the development (definition & rules), general characteristics and factors affecting development, needs and requirements of psychological and cognitive development, Piaget theory of psychological and cognitive development, concepts and universals upon which the theory is based, presentation of mathematical concepts in the light of the theory, general characteristics of child thinking in pre-processes stage, psychological and cognitive processes of kindergarten child in the light of the theory, psychological and cognitive development stages in Piaget theory, criticism of Piaget theory, theories originated from Piaget theory, educational applications of the theory.
