Course Description

The course introduces: decision making, problem solving, the use of quantitative methods in solving problems and making decisions and creativity and innovation in decision-making.

Course Aims

  •  Introducing decision-making.
  •  Solving problems and the alternatives available.
  •  Using quantitative methods in solving problems and making decisions.
  •  Introducing creativity and innovation in decision-making and problem-solving.
  •  Introducing policy-making, methods, and models.
  •  Introducing the stages of policy: identify the problem, criteria, and alternatives, decision-making.
  •  Identifying obstacles in decision-making with a focus on developing countries.

  • Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Case studies in the decision-making.
  • Participation in decision-making.
  • Quantitative methods in decision-making: linear programming.
  • Quantitative methods in decision-making: Markov analysis, cost-benefit analysis.
  • Obstacles facing decision-making with a focus on developing countries.
  • Policy-making and models.
  • Stages of policy: making problem identification, standards, alternatives and solutions.
