Course Description
Specific complex architectural problems will be explored with an emphasis on institutional planning and criteria. Appropriate programming techniques will be investigated based on analysis of needs and aspirations of client and users. An introduction to the strategic and tactical planning criteria of large-scale institutional systems with regional connections and their impact on architectural and urban form, scale and flows will be covered. Institutional systems such as education, health care, commercial, religious, governmental, industrial and recreational facilities will be investigated with respect to their architectural and planning implications.
These studies will be realized through the detailed completion of a major architectural design project.
