Course Description

This course covers some major mathematical methods that are useful for  engineering applications. The student will learn the relation between mathematics, physics, and engineering. The course topics include: Solutions and Initial Value problems, Existence and Uniqueness of Solution. First  Order Differential Equations, linear and exact equations, special integrating factors, substitutions and transformations. Linear second order differential equations, fundamental solutions of homogeneous equations, homogeneous linear equations with constant coefficients. Superposition and non-homogeneous equations. Laplace transform, inverse  of Laplace transform. Infinite series, convergence tests, and Mclaurin and Taylor series. Matrix methods for linear systems..
