The main aim of this course is to expose the student to the general aspects related to understanding sources of hazardous wastes and better ways for handling and prevention. Industrial hazardous Infectious, nuclear waste etc. wastes releases, identification, classifications, characterization, and assessments; hazardous wastes transport pathways and fate; Industrial material balance and waste generation. Origin of wastes from different industries process wise. Industrial waste handling, storage, transportation, treatment and disposal (land and sea) techniques. Industrial in-plant control measures, their assessments and evaluation methodologies; Industrial surveys and environmental audits; cleanup of spills and hazardous waste site emergencies. In-situ and ex-situ site remediation. Case studies with special emphasis on different local KSA industries.
