The course is offered in the fourth semester and involves supervised independent engineering projects aimed at providing practical experience in any of the 3 specializations of the civil engineering program (structural, geotechnical or construction engineering). The student will define his project, set his goals/objectives, conduct surveys, case studies, experiments, designs, modelling, set project specifications and select design methods. The students are expected to produce a concise professional report that describes the design process, implementation and testing, verification and validation and a critical appraisal of the project. The engineering project is stipulated to be undertaken within a semester (16 weeks). An oral presentation and graphic works are complementary project deliverables.
