Course Description

Content:
General Introduction, kinetics and mechanism in reaction of complexes, classification of inorganic reactions, ion exchange reactions and electron transfer reactions.

Course Objectives & Outcomes
Objectives:

  • Recognize the correct methods for the assumption of inorganic reaction mechanism,
  • Understand the different mechanisms for octahedral and square planar complexes.
  • Recognize the colours complexes of transition elements, magnetism, and the types of electronic transition,
  • Recognize the different types of mechanism (substitution, electron transfer).

Outcomes:
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the relationship between the type of mechanism and geometric shape of complex.
  • Compare between the different mechanisms for octahedral and square planar complexes.
  •  Verify the validity of the proposed mechanism.
