Security and Safety of Information

Course Main Objective

This course aims to make students acquainted with the basic concepts of information security field and vulnerability and threats in information environment; it further deals with types and levels of information security and analyze procedures of information security and safety in libraries and information centers.

Course Learning Outcomes

• 2.1Compare among procedures of information security and safety in libraries and information centers.
• 2.2 Master use of protection tools and procedures of information security.

• History of information security.
• Concepts of cybersecurity (essentials of information security- standards of safeguarding information security).
• Planning for information security.
• Risk management in information security.
• Threats to cybersecurity.
• Protection procedures of information security (firewall- antivirus programs- digital signature- digital certificates- domain- performance records- means of physical security).
• Moral and legal matters in cybersecurity.
• Cooperation in field of information security.
• Examples from information security strategies in world countries and KSA.
