Course Main Objective (concise and precise statement without bullets): 

The main objective of course is Cinema, which, beginning in the late 19th century, became the most pervasive art form ever created.  Through film, ideas of other cultures could now quickly reach millions. This course aims to introduce students to the historical/cultural origins and contexts of films. Topics will include adaptations, Orientalism in films, gender, and race representations, etc. Students will learn more about how film communicates, what messages it offers, and how it has continuously influenced attitudes and actions. Instructors of this course will choose a topic and at least 6 films to study each time the course if offered.
