Course Description

The course will introduce the highway components to the students. Drivers, Pedestrians, Vehicles and Roadways, are covered in the course. The following topics are covered in the course: process of driver information need,  vehicle static, kinematics, and dynamic characteristics; road characteristics; sight distance, stopping sight distance (SSD), minimum length of vertical curves, highway surveys and locations, geometric design of highway facilities, factors influencing highway design, cross-section elements, flexible pavement, volume of earthwork, Mass- Hall Diagram, intersection control and grade-separated interchange
