This Course provides a statistical interpretation of thermodynamics systems consisting of a large number of particles. The concept of thermodynamics ensembles such as microcanonical, canonical and grand canonical ensembles will be discussed. The derivation of Maxwell’s-Boltzmann statistics is developed. Further, the methods of statistical mechanics are used to develop the statistics for Bose- Einstein and Fermi- Dirac gases.
