The main objective of course is 

Translating Terminology contains a theoretical and practical part. The first part explores Arabic –English and English- Arabic translation of technical terms in relation to the theory of naming and the question of arbitrariness of the linguistic sign and the sense relations (polysemy and homonymy). Examples of some approaches to defining and rendering technical terms across language and a case study of the development of translational terminology in an academic field will be studied.

    • Broad approaches to terminology management in translation

  • Arabization and its relation to translating terminology 
    • Introduction: definition of Arabization, its importance, possibility, scope, pros and cons, problems and solutions 
    • Terminology and Arabization: problems of multiplicity and methodology  
    • Major methods of Arabization 
    • Procedures of Arabization 
  • Translating religious texts: Strategies of translating religious terms and solving related problems. 
    • (Translation of Quran, Hadith, and religious discourse) 
  • Translating legal texts: Strategies of translating legal terms and solving related problems. 
    • Translation of legislative texts (e.g. domestic statutes, subordinate laws, international treaties or any texts produced by law making authorities); private legal texts that include texts written by authorities or lawyers (e.g. contracts, leases, wills, certificates, etc.) 
  • Translating technical and scientific texts: Strategies of translating technical and scientific terms and solving related problems. 
    • Technical translation includes texts like manuals, product documentation, patents, image brochures, while scientific translation include texts from a range of scientific domains like medicine, physics, chemistry, geology, ecology, engineering, etc.
