Electricity is everywhere, so reliable, and safe supply of electricity are of utmost importance. The aim of the course is to allow the students to assess the hazards, control exposure and reduce the risks associated with electricity. The course will include basic electrical theory, understanding electrical hazards, electrical shock, arc flash and arc blast, effects of electricity on the human body, step and touch potential, identifying electrical hazards, motor control centers and switchgear, damaged electrical power cords and tools, ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI), safe work practices, lockout tag out, safe operation of electrical equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), working around high voltage power lines, overhead and underground hazards, electrical emergencies and electrical accidents, rescue and role of first aid.
