This course explores the design and application of biosensors for medical diagnostics and monitoring. Students learn the principles of biomolecular recognition, transducer mechanisms, signal processing, and microfabrication technologies. Coverage includes electrochemical, optical, and piezoelectric biosensors as well as wearable and implantable devices. A design project requires students to develop a conceptual biosensing system for a selected healthcare application.
