Course Description
This course provides the student with an introduction to algae, the economic importance, the general characteristics , morphology, algae reproduction, algae classification, examples of algae sections, and the characteristics of each section, study of the life cycle of some types of algae, Types of pigments found in algae, algae environment
Practical Content:
Study of the most important examples in each section of the algae, which include: taxonomic division and description, form of the natural environment, form under a microscope, appropriate environments for algal development, and growth of some types of algae in laboratory

Course Objectives:
The study of algae scientifically with descriptions of thalocytic structures and knowledge of the life cycle of algae and the most important differences that made it in a separate section with the identification of the study of the morphological characteristics of algae and the differences between different groups
outcomes:
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Classify algae.
- Know their characteristics and reproduction methods.
- Understand the differences between them and higher plants
- Differentiate the taxonomic groups and identify their economic importance(cyanophyta, chlorophyta, chromophyta, rhodophyta and pyrrophyta).
- Compare the characteristics and importance of all divisions.
