Course Description

This course is designed to provide students with primary and basic principles of mathematics such as (groups & periods, algebraic operations, base signal foundations, roots, logarithms, algebraic analysis, equations of first and second degree, sequences, matrices and determinants, mathematical & geometric sequences). Thus, students will be able to understand and solve economic problems.

Course Aims

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  •  Become familiar with the basic concepts and laws in mathematics.
  •  Identify the relationship of applied mathematics studies and community service.
  •  Apply mathematical principles, use the administrative and humanitarian disciplines and enhance a basic scientific background for those students who haven’t taught proper mathematics at their schools.

- Classification of numbers, operations on numbers - Definition of periods.

  • Algebraic expression

- Definition of algebraic expression - Mathematical operations on algebraic expression
- Concept of exponent, roots and logarithms

  •  Factoring

- Concept of factoring - Factoring of algebraic expression

  • Rational Expression

- Concept of rational expression - Mathematical expression on rational expression

  • Equations

- Methods of solving linear equations in one variable and system of two equations.
- Solving equations of the second degree - Linear inequality.

  •  Matrices and determinants

- Definition of Matrices - Determinants - Solving linear equations by determinants

  •  Sequences

 - Concept of sequence - Geometric and arithmetic sequences
