Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University Among the Leading Higher Education Institutions Achieving the “Excellence” Level in The National Digital Learning Indicator 2024–2025
The National eLearning Center (NeLC) has announced the results of The National Digital Learning Indicator 2024–2025, which measures the maturity of digital learning and training systems across Saudi universities and classifies them into four levels: (Excellence, Advancement, Activation, and Foundation).
Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) ranked among the leading higher education institutions at the Excellence Level, achieving a performance score of 95.75% among 34 public and private universities and colleges. This national milestone reflects the University’s leadership in digital transformation and academic quality, reaffirming its commitment to Saudi Vision 2030 by advancing a comprehensive and sustainable digital learning ecosystem.
The National Digital Learning Indicator serves as a strategic tool launched by the National eLearning Center to assess the maturity level of digital learning and training across the Kingdom and evaluate how institutions sustain and advance their digital transformation.
The Indicator contributes to enhancing the quality of digital learning through a rigorous assessment methodology that tracks institutional maturity, supports continuous improvement, empowers data-driven decision-making, and accelerates innovation and the adoption of advanced educational practices.
In his statement, IAU President Prof. Fahad Al-Harbi commended the efforts of the National eLearning Center in promoting digital transformation in education.
He emphasized that achieving the Excellence Level represents a nationally significant accomplishment, reflecting the University’s success in enabling inclusive digital learning access, integrating advanced educational technologies, and strengthening its digital infrastructure to enhance academic performance and learning outcomes.
Prof. Al-Harbi added that this recognition embodies the University’s alignment with national strategies for digital learning and highlights its contribution to building a future-ready education ecosystem that empowers individuals and fosters a knowledge-based economy.
Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdullah AlMuhaideb, stated that the University’s distinction in the Indicator crowns its long-standing institutional efforts in advancing digital learning and training and adopting global best practices and innovative educational technologies.
He also noted that the national report recognized IAU as one of the featured national success stories for its pioneering initiatives in developing digital content and improving learning experiences through qualitative, innovative initiatives based on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Meanwhile, Acting Dean of the Deanship of eLearning and Distance Learning, Dr. Albandari Alsumayt, highlighted that this achievement is the result of integrated institutional efforts across the University, led by the Deanship’s teams that developed a comprehensive digital framework supporting educational quality.
Among the Deanship’s flagship initiatives is the internally developed AI Mentor – eLO, which harnesses artificial intelligence to enhance learning, research, and training experiences.
The project recorded over 94% user satisfaction with its intelligent tools for summarization, question generation, and faculty support, while more than 85% of users reported improved efficiency and time savings in academic tasks.
With 100% integration with the Blackboard system, eLO has become a national model in leveraging in-house innovation to enhance digital learning within Saudi higher education institutions.
Dr. Alsumayt concluded, “IAU’s placement among the top institutions at the Excellence Level is not only an acknowledgment of our institutional quality but also a culmination of a culture of innovation and collaboration that continues to shape the University’s journey toward sustainable digital transformation.”
This achievement further cements Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University’s position as a national leader in digital learning excellence and transformation, continuing to make a lasting impact through reliable digital education, operational efficiency, and continuous innovation that inspires the future.
By attaining this distinguished classification, IAU reaffirms its commitment to Saudi Vision 2030 and its role in advancing a pioneering digital learning ecosystem that empowers individuals, builds knowledge, and enhances the Kingdom’s global competitiveness, establishing itself as a national benchmark for quality digital learning and institutional innovation.
