Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University Organizes “Arabic: Language, Identity, and Shaping the Future” Event and Honors Winners of the Literary Creativity Award.
As part of its efforts to promote the Arabic language as a cornerstone of national identity and a key driver in shaping the future, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University inaugurated the event “Arabic: Language, Identity, and Shaping the Future.” The event was opened by the President of the University, Prof. Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, and organized by the College of Arts, in the presence of the Vice President for Development and Community Partnership, Prof. Asim bin Abdulrahman Al-Ansari, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muhaydib, the Dean of the College of Arts, Dr. Mashael Al-Okaly, along with a number of faculty members and specialists in Arabic language and its sciences.
Dr. Mashael Al- Okaly stated that the event aimed to celebrate the Arabic language, deepen awareness of its civilizational and cognitive value, and highlight its presence in the fields of education, culture, and innovation. This was achieved through an accompanying exhibition featuring diverse sections that embodied the intersection of language with arts, heritage, and identity, while also exploring its prospects in light of modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
She added that the exhibition included artistic displays and visual artworks inspired by the aesthetics of the Arabic language, rare Arabic manuscripts dating back centuries, and a presentation of the evolution of Arabic calligraphy as a national visual identity combining authenticity and innovation. The exhibition also shed light on the global presence of the Arabic language by introducing programs for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, showcasing the experiences of international students learning Arabic, and presenting innovative research and student projects that employed artificial intelligence technologies in the service of the Arabic language across various knowledge-based and applied fields.
The event also witnessed the announcement of the winners of the fifth cycle of the Literary Creativity Award for the year 2025. In the Classical Poetry category, the award was won by Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Yousef, an administrative staff member at the Deanship of Graduate Studies, while the Theatrical Writing category was won by student Sumaya Abdullah Jalal from the College of Arts, Department of Sociology and Social Work. The winners were honored in a ceremony reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting literary talents and encouraging cultural creativity.
This event reaffirms the pioneering role played by Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in serving the Arabic language, enhancing its societal presence, and unifying institutional efforts to support it as a language of identity and culture, and as an effective tool in shaping the future.
