Course Description
This course covers the understanding of mechanisms that regulate plant growth and development.Topics include features of growth; initiation of flowering and senescence and death; plant movement; hormones and plant growth regulators and their physiological effects as well as their mechanisms of action
Practical content
- Experiments related to the germination and growth of seedlings with the effect of plant growth regulator.
- Study the effevt of light, plant movements on plant growth and development.
- Study Plant senescence.
Course Objectives & Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Know the basics of growth and development of plants from the moment of formation of the embryo to senescence.
- Identify the role of plant hormones in regulating plant growth processes.
- Identify the economic applications of hormones and growth regulators in vegetable production
