Course Description
This course is designed to introduce students to medical emergencies that might be encountered in the dental clinic and their management including the practice of CPR.
The course provides the essential information for students to instantly identify and manage life threatening conditions.
Main Objectives
The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize and discuss the management of common medical emergencies that can occur in dental practice.
In addition to developing skills in diagnosis and prompt management of emergencies, the student should develop the skill to provide Basic Life Support in an emergency.
The student must also be able to able to discuss the predisposing factors, pathophysiology and methods of preventing medical conditions which are commonly encountered in dental practice
