Course Description
Binary operations, groups, subgroups ,
cyclic groups ,groups of permutations and Cayley's theorem,alternating groups , cosets and Lagrange theorem,direct product and finitely generated abelian groups,isomorphism theorems.
Course Objectives & Outcomes
The objectives of this course are to:
- Equip student with necessary skills to know algebraic structure for some groups.
- Define binary operations, groups, subgroups, groups of permutations and alternating groups.
- Enable the student to identify the isomorphism theorem
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify algebraic structure of some groups.
- Define groups, subgroups, groups of permutations and alternating groups.
- Apply Cayley's theorem and Lagrange theorem.
- Discuss the isomorphism theorem.
