Under the patronage of the University President, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rubaish, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University represented by the College of Arts and the Deanship of Student Affairs, announced the winners of the ‘Poetic Creativity Award’ in its third version. This award is intended to reveal the literary talents and to motivate creative poetic pens. It also aims to consolidate the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula as a homeland for the Arabs culture and as a rich source for their history, and their civilizational and aesthetical achievements.
The Dean of the College of Arts and the Chair of the Poetic Creativity Award, Dr. Mashael Al-Akli, assured that the Kingdom has always been a land of poets and an inspiring home for their immortal Arabic poems, it is the cradle of civilizations with its extended historical legacy that nurtures the creativity of Saudi poet.
The Year of Arabic Poetry
Dr. Al-Akli indicated that celebrating the ‘Year of Arabic Poetry’ is a celebration of creativity and talent. It aims to build a cultural product that reflects pride in the national identity and its artistic, aesthetic, and moral values. It contributes to achieving the goals of the vision, that highlights promoting the national identity and the Saudi culture. She added that this award celebrates 2023 as the year of Arabic poetry, believing in the importance of poetry in the Arabic culture.
The Award went through 3 stages:
- Receiving participations
- Presenting them on committees from the Arabic Language Department
- Finally, announcing the winners, namely:
- Ahmed AlTurki (from the Health track) who won the “Eloquent Arabic Poetry Award”
- Mohammed AlDossary (from the College of Nursing) who won the “Nabati Arabic Poetry Award”
Its noteworthy to mention that the announcement of the winners coincided with the hosting of the Saudi poet Abdullatif bin Yusuf Al-Mubarak by the Unit of Culture and Arts in the College of Arts, who conveyed his poetic experience and reviewed the secrets and the stories of his poems.
