About 

Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University offers (IAU-CH-URP) as an integrated consulting center, which provides its distinguished consulting services for the state institutions concerned with the development sectors of urban, rural, social, economic, economic, services, and infrastructure; on local, regional, and national levels.

IAU relies on highly qualified faculty members from Urban and Regional Planning Department at College of Architecture and Planning (CAP), as well as from all relevant departments of IAU, with the academic and professional experience at the national and international levels. IAU-CH-URP also cooperates with specialists from other universities inside KSA, consulting offices and experts from inside and outside the Kingdom.

IAU also aims through IAU-CH-URP to support the greater consulting offices in the Kingdom with highly qualified local expertise and cadres, both academically and professionally of great knowledge with development constrains and potentials in the Kingdom, and methods of dealing with such issues.

To be a distinguished center in providing consulting services in field of urban and regional planning over the Eastern Region and the Kingdom.

Mission

To provide the public and private sectors with professional advice that relies on theoretical and applied studies to reach effective, sustainable, and flexible urban development at various levels.

Objectives

To provide advisory services to government agencies working in the field of urban development, as well as consulting offices in the Kingdom.

Scope of Work

The advisory services provided by IAU-CH-URP are divided into three axes:

First: Preparing of Integrated Comprehensive Plans and Studies 

We declare our ability and complete readiness to undertake the following plans and studies:

  1. Preparing of studies to formulate the future vision of the regions and governorates considering the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, the principles of sustainable and flexible development, and the directions of the New Urban Agenda.
  2. Preparing of strategic plans for comprehensive and sectoral development, urban, rural, economic, services, roads, and infrastructure, at the level of regions and governorates.
  3. Studies to assess environmental and development risks and raise capacity and resilience for regions, governorates, cities, and villages.
  4. Assessment of the requirements for sustainability, prosperity, and resilience, for regions, provinces, and cities.
  5. Preparing local urban plans for cities and villages.
  6. Preparing of land subdivision plans for residential neighborhoods and districts.
  7. Preparing plans for the redevelopment of existing neighborhoods, districts, and cities.
  8. Preparing industrial development plans, and tourism development plans.
  9. Preparing action area plans for city centers and historical sites.
  10. Preparing plans for public services (educational, health, security, recreational, etc.) and roads and infrastructure; At the regional level, sub-regional level (governorates), and at the level of cities, villages, districts, and residential neighborhoods.
  11. Preparing environmental and traffic impact assessment studies for development projects at the regional, semi-regional and local levels.
  12. Preparing specialized qualitative planning studies.
  13. Conducting field surveys, statistical analyses, and geographic information systems for planning issues.
Second: Participation in the Preparation of Mapping and Studies by Consortium

Here, in the case of major national and regional projects, the IAU-CH-URP declares its willingness to select, and ally with, the best national and international think tanks, accepted by the employer.

The IAU-CH-URP is also ready to assume responsibility for carrying out components or tasks of major projects that may require joint venture of multiple consulting firms.

Third: Technical Support and Training

The Consulting House for Urban and Regional Planning (IAU-CH-URP) announces its readiness to provide technical support and training to government agencies and departments and the specialized advisory offices through:

  • Providing academically and professionally qualified cadres to offer consulting services.
  • Preparing technical specifications for the projects.
  • Preparing workshops to train employees of government agencies on emerging planning topics, such as sustainable development, urban prosperity, and resilience. As well as on planning and development issues.
  • Preparing training courses in professional practice for various planning activities.
  • Preparing training courses in computer applications and geographic information systems in urban planning.
  • Preparing work manuals and guides on how to deal with urgent planning and development issues.
