TabsOverviewOverview The IAU (Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University) Dermatology training program is designed to provide residents with a comprehensive and progressive education in dermatology. It offers a variety of educational experiences to equip graduates of medical colleges with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes: To develop An appropriate working knowledge of medical specialties related to dermatology, including diseases of the skin, hair, nails, oral mucosa, and external genitalia, as well as dermatopathology, investigative procedures, and therapy. Proficient skills to provide competent and safe patient care, including dermatological history taking, physical examination, diagnostic assessment, investigative procedures, and therapeutic interventions. A professional attitude towards dermatology practice, effective management of patients with dermatological diseases, collaboration with other healthcare team members, advocacy for the health and well-being of individuals and communities, and a lifelong commitment to personal educational and professional development. Licensing Examination: Successful completion of The Saudi Medical Licensing Exam (SMLE)or an equivalent within two years of application. CV Submission: Documentation of clinical experience, research, and leadership. Recommendation Letters: Two recent letters attesting to the applicant's clinical skills and professionalism. Internship Completion: Completion of the internship year prior to the start of the training. Certificate of Good Standing: A current certificate indicating good standing. GPA Requirement: A minimum GPA of 4 out of 5 or its equivalent. Year descriptionThe duration of the program is four years The first year focuses on training in general internal medicine and its subspecialties, general pediatrics and its subspecialties, and plastic surgery, along with a few electives in oral medicine, psychiatry, or plastic surgery. The second to fourth years comprise the core years of dermatology training, dermatopathology rotation, and research methodology and projects. The program is primarily conducted at KFHU and the primary health care facilities of IAU. It is overseen by the residency training committee, chaired by the program director and guided by the board of the dermatology department and the vice deanship of higher studies and research. Training will be delivered by dermatology board-certified consultants, many of whom have various subspecialties, including dermatopathology, dermatologic surgery, laser dermatology, and pediatric dermatology.
