In its pursuit of academic excellence, the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University has secured multiple accreditations for its bachelor’s and master’s programs from distinguished accreditation bodies.

National Accreditation of Undergraduate Programs

Five academic departments within the college have received accreditation from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA).

  • In May 2018, the college’s first departments—Respiratory Care and Clinical Laboratory Sciences—were accredited, reflecting the university’s commitment to educational quality, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • In May 2021, accreditation was extended to the Physiotherapy and Clinical Nutrition departments.
  • In November 2024, the Radiological Sciences department was accredited.
  • Accreditation is currently in progress for the remaining two departments—Cardiac Technology and Emergency Medical Care—and is expected to be completed by 2026.

   

International Accreditation of the Master’s Program in Clinical Laboratory Sciences

The Master’s Program in Clinical Laboratory Sciences has earned international accreditation from the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) in the United Kingdom, making it the first graduate program at a Saudi university to achieve this prestigious recognition. The accreditation is valid for five years.

  
  

Academic Collaborations

Partnership with the University of Alabama and the Heart and Lung Care Foundation (USA)
Since 2014, the Department of Respiratory Care at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University has partnered with the Heart and Lung Care Foundation for Educational Services in the United States, represented by faculty members from the University of Alabama.

The collaboration aims to enhance and modernize the Respiratory Care academic program by integrating international expertise into the curriculum. As part of this partnership, visiting faculty members from the University of Alabama have contributed through:

  1. Supporting, training, and mentoring faculty members in the Department of Respiratory Care to design and implement problem-based learning methodologies in the curriculum.
  2. Participating in teaching courses and supervising training laboratories for respiratory care students.
  3. Conducting professional development workshops to prepare faculty members to effectively design and deliver lectures within a problem-based learning framework.
