About the unit:

The role of this unit is considered as an extension for IAU role and the college too, regarding education and development. Accordingly, this unit is concerned with boosting the efforts of achieving the strategic goals of the college related to serving local community through organizing and implementation. The unit also seeks to develop and modernize the work system over the college level; through publicizing culture of volunteering and community work spirit toward providing community service of high-quality. The unit has a boosting educational role in several fields, such as child care, disabled persons, the education sector, and the various social institutions concerned with human-being and its development; The unit also works to activate its role in developing the skills of faculty members and students, rehabilitating them for the requirements of the external community, and enabling them to obtain qualitative opportunities through participating in the events and the initiatives adopted by the unit.

It is notable that the unit looks forward to deepening the university's communication with its surrounding community through qualitative and distinguished volunteering work to meet the needs of all segments, strengthening the concept of social responsibility among its employees, and investing the energies of youth in accordance with the vision, mission and goals of the college emanating from the goals of the university, in order to achieve the desired integration internally and externally.

Faculty members and students from all departments of the college participate in the work of the unit to implement qualitative community programs.

Objectives :

The major objective of the Unit is to activate the role of the College in community service and sustainable development dimensions per the objectives of the Deanship of Community Service and Sustainable Development, and the strategic plan of the College and the University, through the following:

  • To work per the vision and mission of the College and the University
  • To set realistic operational plans developed, implemented, and followed per the vision and mission of both, the College, and the University
  • To activate departments roles toward community service and sustainable development
  • To act per the college administration referrals
  • To disseminate the culture of community service and voluntary at the college level

Tasks :

  1. To set the organizational structure for support-unit to be under departments coordinators of their subordinates
  2. To complete the administrative procedures necessary for the approval of data-entering by the employees of the subordinate entity after granting the unit approval of access to website of community service and sustainable development
  3. To complete the relevant financial procedures via mandating powers for us of available financial support
  4.  To provide technical support.
  5. To strengthen the role of support units in community service, urging its employees and to contribute through the platforms available, thus contributing to enhancing its mental image among the community.
  6. o identify and ease difficulties may limit the functioning of community service.
  7. To counter the needs of its employees to enhance their role in community service through preparation.

Contributions for the years (2020/21) - (2021/22)

The Unit provides many contributions to student and staff members of the College, male and female, as well as local community individuals, through training courses, workshops, and awareness-raising initiatives in cooperation with relevant authorities.

Training and workshops

  • Participation in Future-Enrichment Program (Itharat-Almustaqbl)

General description: A series of training workshops in specialized fields to provide the talented student with several tools useful for academic and professional future.

Participants: The College, represented by a group of faculty members from all departments, participated in cooperation with the Department of Talents, Eastern Region Branch

Targeted group: Gifted female-students from grade 2 intermediate to grade 3 over all governorates of the Eastern Region.

  •  Awareness Training Program related to Responsibility Bank

General description: Introductory Training Program

Participants: The College, represented by members of the unit, participated in collaboration with the Deanship of Community Service and Sustainable Development

Targeted group: Representatives of the unit in the departments and faculty members of the College.

  • Communication Effectivity & Constructive Dialogue

General description: an interactive workshop to enhance communication skills and constructive dialogue

Participants: Faculty members represented by the unit in cooperation with Centre for National Dialogue in the Eastern Region

Targeted group: Students and local community individuals.

General description: Awareness about community service via email weekly.

Participants: Faculty members represented by the unit cooperation with the college Technical Unit.

Targeted group: faculty members and employees.

  •  Get known with your signs

General description: Awareness related to the importance of monitoring body vital signs through measuring of blood sugar levels, blood pressure, weight, height, waist circumference, and body mass.

Participants: College of Education is represented by the unit in cooperation with a qualified health staff from the Dhahran Long-term Care Hospital.

Targeted group: faculty members, students, and employees Al-Rayyan campus.
